]]> http://www.erikmeilers.com/blog/2011/10/20/san-diego-beach-family-portraits/feed/ 0 San Diego Wedding Photographer – The Marston House http://www.erikmeilers.com/blog/2011/06/05/san-diego-wedding-photographer-the-marston-house/ http://www.erikmeilers.com/blog/2011/06/05/san-diego-wedding-photographer-the-marston-house/#comments Sun, 05 Jun 2011 15:49:13 +0000 eeilers http://www.erikmeilers.com/blog/?p=465 I have just gotten around to blogging this wedding from an AWESOME couple, Travis and Elise.  Busy has been an understatement these days.   After a great engagement session at Wind-an-Sea Beach in La Jolla, CA, I knew the wedding was going to  be a fun day.  On wedding day, we met at Balboa Park for the wedding party portraits, then headed over to the nearby Marston House for the ceremony.  The grounds there are absolutely beautiful for an outdoor wedding venue.  After the ceremony, they got in their friends old Ford Fairlane 500 for the quick trip to The Abbey for the reception.  What a party they threw down.  I had so much fun that I felt like a guest of the party rather than just working an event.  It was a perfect day for Travis and Elise and wish them the best of luck in their future together.

]]> http://www.erikmeilers.com/blog/2011/06/05/san-diego-wedding-photographer-the-marston-house/feed/ 0 La Jolla Maternity Photo Shoot http://www.erikmeilers.com/blog/2011/05/16/la-jolla-maternity-photo-shoot/ http://www.erikmeilers.com/blog/2011/05/16/la-jolla-maternity-photo-shoot/#comments Tue, 17 May 2011 05:41:38 +0000 eeilers http://www.erikmeilers.com/blog/?p=422 It was an honor to get a call to document a couple’s last few hours of pregnancy…several months back at this point.  Being our best friends in the world made this experience all the better!  Erin and Damon really wanted to get some photos as they headed off to their final doctor’s appointment, before their baby was brought into this world.  It was an emotionally charged photo shoot since they thought baby Masen wouldn’t be there for another couple of weeks.  I could not be happier with the way the photos turn out.  It always helps to have beautiful subjects in a beautiful location!  This is Scripps Pier in La Jolla, CA.  We were limited to the harsh mid-day sun, but there are ways around that with all of the light modifiers out there.  With just a few simple steps, we were able to transform that harsh direct sunlight into soft pleasing light.

Well, I have seriously neglected the photo blog since, uhh, a long time ago.  Oops!
Life has certainly not stopped, however.  Over the last 8 or 9 months since I last blogged, I have gone through the highest of highs and some really low lows. I’ll save the lows for later, since I am welcoming myself back to the blog world, and that’s a positive.  Generally, I like to look at the positive side of things anyway.

So, back on the 7th of July, my wife and I welcomed our second son, Vaughn, into the world.  He is such a fun little guy to have in our wolf pack.  Now that he’s 7 months old, he is nothing but smiles, and he absolutely loves his older brother, Quinn…as does Quinn.
I have been shooting quite a bit.  The family photo sessions around the holidays are always fun to shoot.  There have been a couple of weddings here and there, and I have gotten to take a few local trips around San Diego and Central Coast, as well as a couple back to the east coast, in DC.  I will share travel photos of those at a later date.  For now I will share just one picture of our new little guy.
