A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege to do an engagement photo session with a super cool couple.  Ashley and Ryan are getting married in August, and I am very excited for them and to photograph their wedding.  This was a fairly casual photo session, as most of my shoots are…I like to keep things simple and low key, yet still bring you photographs you will love to look at for years to come.  These are the times when you need to capture these memories!

Last week, I met Stephanie and Dave for thier Engagement photo shoot.  Rather than doing the photo shoot at the beach or a park, we decided to try something downtown.  We had a great time, saw a skateboarding chicken, and made some fun and unique photographs.  I will be photographing their wedding later this year and am super excited to photograph them again!

Yikes! Has it really been over two months since I last updated the blog? Well, it certainly has not been due to lack of content. I have been shooting a ton, and insanely busy in general…I guess that is the way the halidays work though. Where do I start? It seems the hot item for me has been family portraits, mostly newborn or first year photos. Pictures of the family together is always a great gift for parents, and it never gets old. There have have also been a couple weddings in there recently. Things are starting to book for next year, and I must say life is good! I will post images from the family sessions and the weddings seperately. Let’s go with the weddings first…the two latest are from the Wedding Bowl in La Jolla and Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee. Balboa Park is a great place! I had a wedding to photograph last weekend in the rose gardens…it was beautiful! The weather was perfect, it was an intimate little wedding and the people were awesome! I photographed the short ceremony, had a few family and formal shots, then I got to work with the bride and groom for about an hour walking throughout the park. I think I have said it before, but Balboa Park is one of my favorite places in San Diego. The history, the architecture, and the overall beauty of the place is just phenomenal! Last Friday, I met Sean and Sarah, a great couple, down at Sunset Cliffs to do their engagement photo session.  I will be photographing their wedding next Spring here in San Diego. Up until this day, we were a bit worried about the marine layer that had been hanging around in the evenings lately, but we had a cloudless sky and a great time. I have been to this beach a time or two and it is a perfect little beach for a photo session. There are rarely people other than surfers there, and the cliffs are quite dramatic with the evening light. You have to time it right with the tides though, or there is no beach at all…we had a good on Friday evening. Enjoy the photos!

I shot a wedding a week and a half ago at The Prado in Balboa Park, here in San Diego. What a beautiful place to have a wedding! Balboa Park is one of my favorite places in San Diego anyway, so to shoot Ashley and Tim’s wedding there was pretty cool. The wedding went perfectly, and I think the images show this. Everyone looked fantastic and seemed so relaxed which was nice to see at a wedding. And I don’t think I could have met a nicer couple to have as subjects! Here area few fun images from their day.

Welcome to the new year. Reflecting back on 2007, I would have to say it was probably the most significant year in my life because of our son Quinn. LIfe has certainly changed, but definitely for the better. He is now four months old and is quite a large kid, which is good for me because I don’t feel like I am going to break him. Always a good thing!
I recently had my first engagement session of the new year. Ashley and Tim are having their wedding at The Prado in Balboa Park so they chose to have their engagement photos done there as well. The day we had scheduled for the session happened to be during one of the larger rain storms we have had here in San Diego in quite some time, but we decided to go ahead with it anyway, figuring there were a lot of covered areas in the park. I had a great time with them, and their photos turned out great. I am really excited to shoot their wedding in the spring.

Happy Holidays everyone! It has been a busy month of December and weddings are starting to book quickly for 2008. I got out recently to do an engagement session with a super nice couple, Kelli and Rusty. It was a very relaxed photo shoot with their dogs, and we all had a great time. They were very easy to work with and I am looking forward to shooting their wedding later in the year. Sunset Cliffs is a beautiful spot here in San Diego, and it’s always easy to find an uncrowded piece of the beach. As you can see from the photos below, the backdrop is quite dramatic, and makes for some striking images. Thank you Kelli and Rusty!

Last weekend I shot a last minute wedding reception for a couple here in San Diego. They had their ceremony back in December, but the reception for the friends and family in town was put together last minute in their backyard, and I happened to be available for the evening. Below are a few images from the evening. Everybody was extremely welcoming and thankful, I had a great time, and the food was fantastic! I learned that Persian culture involves a lot of food in social gatherings, and I mean A LOT. Everyone encouraged me to try everything, with a complete explanation of what the dish was, how it was made, and what I should have it with. It was awesome!
